Last year we gorged on a plethora of purple spored puffballs. Yes, we raided them right off our neighbors lawns, church yards, etc. It seems they are best fresh, because the ones I froze for later were not nearly as pleasant. These were almost too amusing to eat. I like to fry them in butter after drizzling them with lemon juice, and a bit of salt and pepper.
This year, I'm eating my nasturtiums as fast as they bloom. I love their peppery flavor with a hint of sweet nectar. Next year, I must plant a substantial amount, since this year's supply is very meager.
