After a wonderfully busy productive day, I turned my attention to learning and research when night fell. Among the questions I sought answers for were: What exactly is the mechanism of action for antidepressants? How can a 'chemical' imbalance within the brain be measured and proven? What nasty long term health damage can result from taking antidepressants? Wouldn't cognitive behavior therapy be much more desireable for the treatment of depression? Why not go for cocaine or amphetamines as treatments for depression? Surely those two street drugs are no more deadly than the current pharmaceuticals in vogue and make an equal amount of sense for depression treatment..haha-if not more sense, in my humble and oddly educated opinion. So, after a few hours of net digging, (by no means complete) I found this: http://www.antidepressantsfacts.com/serotonin-depression-hypothesis.htm
And, it makes sense. A great deal of scary sense. I have seen so many people that have fallen under the spell of these antidepressants. I watch these people with interest and note whether or not they develop other health problems which I suspect are the results of believing in and consuming the various antidepressants. Is it fair for me to do this? I was once one of the people that desperately turned to antidepressants for relief of my state of mind. All I got was sicker from the drugs. I found a good book at a thrift store that helped me think myself out of the mental hole. It was miles better than the lousy pills. A friend of mine currently has possession of this book. I must get that rascal back, because I've forgotten the name of the author. When I get it back, I'll let you know.
