O.K.-both nuts and kudos to Lowes. The other store still sells the lye for soap making without bizzarre paranoia and really isn't so much further away. The cost analysis indicates that I can get the same amount of lye from Amazon for perhaps 5 cents less than Lowes and that includes shipping. Oh my, I'll have to plan ahead or wait for soap gratification should this other Lowes location succumb to odd paranoid perceptions.
