Once again I feel moved to write in favor of conventional medicine and a doctor that I respect and admire. Since I did not ask permission to write about her I will not divulge her name. I will say we are very fortunate to have her as our pediatrician here in Simpsonville South Carolina. This doctor that I respect and admire does not operate out of some fancy new office building, but rather an older converted house, nor does she employ a flock of employees for narrow tasks. Many times when I call the office due to a disease within my children, she is the one that answers the phone and I have seen her at the reception desk doing whatever needs to be done there. She employs a nurse assistant that I respect and love as well. These ladies are practical, compassionate and down to earth. I have never had to wait and wait to get my daughters in for appointments or once there, wait forever and ever to be taken care of. In fact, there have been several occasions in which she has made time to see my children within an hour after I have called. It is very easy to communicate with them and they have a true passion for the health of children and the healing of children. I have never felt that this doctor has made a diagnosis based on an easy scapegoat for symptoms but rather that she truly seeks the cause of affliction. She seems to have a great gift for discernment of cause. She has never called a cold or bacterial infection an allergy and I have experienced pediatricians that were not so discerning and did just that! She has always prescribed effective treatment or medication when necessary and has never prescribed a frivolous drug or treatment. I have never seen a parade of pharmaceutical representatives calling upon them. I have never seen them cast a disparaging eye on any parent. I have never seen them head out to lunch in fancy cars despite having patients in the waiting room. This pediatrician, unlike so many pediatricians in this area, takes medicaid. It seems that she has more patients of humble income than patients with huge financial success. I cannot recall ever seeing her court the rich with her great medical skills. She and her assistant are always willing to share knowledge and when I bring the girls in, we usually end up having great conversations about various aspects of health and diseases as well as many other subjects. Quite frankly, this is the best medical care that my daughters have ever had!
