Poor Little Neglected Blog..what can I extol or disparage today? How about patience and time?

I have been busy, and that is a great thing! After nearly ten months of torture, I can claim to be able to walk like a human again! I did it without pharmaceuticals, although there were many times when I wished like mad that my body could tolerate those poisons. I did indeed sample some gabapentin one day with yucky yucky results. I did it without physical therapy, I did it with patience and by tuning into the needs of my body! Every day has gotten a little bit easier-provided I stay tuned in to the signals from my body, and heed them. It is better to rest at the slightest twinge of pain than to keep pressing on until it becomes a roaring lion of misery! The good old Mueller back brace definitely helped to keep my spine still and aligned. I can't claim to be 100% cured, because I still have weird sensations in both of my legs ranging from odd feelings of feeling loss to aches that travel along the sciatic pathway. I rather have to concentrate on picking my feet up properly-yay that I can do it! But oh that is SO much better than excruciating shooting, stabbing pain and feeling like I am trying to hobble on spear tips! I felt so good yesterday that I dug a likely sweet potato-which was fine indeed!
And..I successfully did some mopping, walked our newest stubborn pooch that thinks to defecate in the house rather than the yard many times these past few days..So yeah, my back is hurting a bit now, and I am taking it easy. But..my down time is getting ever so much shorter and I am SO grateful! I really wanted to believe that I would be one of the lucky 80% of the population that suffers a herniated disc and heals without any drastic measures. Every body is different, and I believe that there is no set rate of healing for any particular thing. I suspect that small variances in structure influence this-especially in regards to certain types of spinal injuries. I believe that soon I will be able to give myself a nice pedicure which hasn't been an option for far too long! The herbs have definitely missed some trimming this summer, but I enjoyed looking at them anyway. What sweet victory it was to trim a neglected basil yesterday! I still don't sit on my rear for long and only when absolutely required for the most part. Some may think that all I am doing is avoiding pain and that is absolutely correct! Whatever it takes, whatever it takes. I can carry a 5 lb sack of potatoes now, so I must be on the right track!
