Never again!

Another thing I'll never do besides waste wood, leaves or brush clippings is dig holes in this terrible clay in order to put plants in places where they will surely struggle and die...unless they are useless ornamentals at my mother's request. Even then, I feel guilty as all get out! I'm certainly murdering these:

The peppers which I planted in the old conventional style are struggling but producing. I think the production is due to the large amounts of pee I've been feeding to them.

So, in the spirit of sustainability and study of permaculture, I've started experimenting with some very scaled down mound planting over regretfully small piles of sticks and brush. Lets see how this useless Mandevilla likes it:
