Without a doubt, I have endured one of the worst cases of bronchitis in my lifetime. I finally got desperate enough to consult a doctor which resulted in numerous prescriptions-two of which I did not bother with since one was a steroid and the other was an odd anesthetizing agent for certain lung muscles. I did get the bronchodilating fast acting albuterol inhaler, the Cherotussin and the Augmentin-which I am convinced was ineffective for this microorganism! I increased my herbal intakes to include a powerful mix of raw garlic, raw ginger, strong yellow onion and Habanero peppers. The Cherotussin was an iffy proposition since I have had reactions to opiates in the past, however this time it did not prove deleterious but a welcome relief for a few hours each night. Yeah, knocked me right out and spared me some coughing! I think this organism is unaffected by Augmentin because after three days of taking it as prescribed, there was no decrease in symptoms. Usually, an effective antibiotic will produce symptom reduction in that length of time. Then I really increased the herbs and noticed positive symptom reduction! A great side effect of this illness that kept me down for three weeks was that my back made healing progress. Now, the sciatica has faded to occasional muscle cramp like twinges and I am so filled with gratitude! I kept my lower back firmly encased in a stabilizing support for the coughing episodes-which was a good idea. I actually planted a few things yesterday!(I am still refraining from sitting unless it is a have to-no movie theaters, meals at restaraunts, long car trips, etc. for me and no flexion, but a lot of squatting with a straight back)
Since peppers did best for me last year, peppers are my focus this year-along with transplanting a bunch of my beloved German iris that has been languishing in unsuitable areas.
