The Frankincense Resin Experiment

I was beginning to think I had it made. My lower back has been giving me significantly less trouble aside from some very mild sciatic pain in both legs and feet. Yes, the pain is there, but it is ever so much better than it was and I walk around in a relatively normal fashion now. And then..My upper back and neck started stiffening and hurting! Ugh! Never take the ability to turn one's head or look down for granted! I decided to try an ancient remedy for various inflammatory ailments that I happened to already have on hand in powdered form. I started eating about 200 mg of pure Frankincense (The variety I have is Boswellia carterii) resin three times a day. This is day two of this experiment and I swear I am less pain riddled and less stiff! Making an ethanol extract of this resin may not be such a good idea according to this information: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1112084/
Since I am dealing with a pure unprocessed material, I have no idea of the percentage of active constituents that I am consuming. I am hoping for just enough because God knows what an overdose could do!
Alas, Boswellia carterii is not one of the more studied varieties either. Drugs.com has a few bits of information about Boswellia serrata:  http://www.drugs.com/npp/frankincense-indian.html
Sadly, there just isn't much about ingesting a non extract form! I haven't found any information suggesting that this little experiment might kill me.
I am grateful that my spine is not as stiff and filled with horrid burning pain and I intend to eat my resin for several more days at least. I never take anything continuously for long.
