Formaldehyde in E Cigs-Eh, so What?

Oh no, here comes the latest vape bashing hype and counter hype!
NBC doesn't seem to like vapers at all and neither does the New England Journal of Medicine! Well, this vaper doesn't particularly approve of their spin either.
OMG..E cigs are producing formaldehyde:

We can(not) trust NBC, right? Because if we dig a little further, there is a delightful little farce of a study cited by the trusty NEJM:

Ah such reliable sources! I prefer to dig deeper, and do some reading between the lines, thank you.
Who the heck vapes at 5 volts and enjoys it? I'm truly curious-my equipment doesn't do that. I'm quite satisfied at 3.3 volts! Haha-and to cite this pleasure of a study-this 3.3 volt vaping doesn't result in hemiacetyls.(allegedly the culprits in release of formaldehyde) I don't want a hot nasty burned taste, so I don't like jacking up my voltage. Maybe if I got or made some super resistant coils... after I build my own mod.. The basis of this claim of formaldehyde being present is hardly credulous since no gas phase formaldehyde was collected. Basically, aren't they admitting that it isn't there? Sure, propylene glycol and glycerol-when combusted-can in certain circumstances produce the oft bashed formaldehyde. Well, these genuis types found hemiacetals, but where then is the formaldehyde that is allegedly released? Vaporizing is a little different from combustion. Think of water evaporating and think of vaporization as heat enhanced evaporation. It doesn't happen only with water. Some chemicals vaporize more readily than others. Gasoline can vaporize, but you shouldn't try that one at home. The stage from evaporation to combustion with that particular chemical is..well..dangerous! If you really want to freak out about inhaling some toxic chemicals, just analyze the output from any process that utilizes combustion and contemplate the smog that hangs around cities.
Let's examine some information from the CDC regarding exposure to formaldehyde and what the body does with it. According to the CDC, the body metabolises formaldehyde rapidly into harmless formate or CO2 which then leaves. http://www.atsdr.cdc.gov/toxprofiles/tp111-c1.pdf
So why all the focus and uproar? Nobody likes it when somebody that isn't the first nobody does something different I suspect. Especially when what the somebodies are doing has the potential of derailing the current Status Quo gravy train. Of course, visit me in 15 years and see how I'm doing. If I'm croaking from some terrible disease, it still won't prove that vaping is the culprit due to the presence of so many uncontrollable variables over the course of my lifetime. (Possibly that fabulous city smog could have some input? Maybe a sprinkling of acid rain?) Sorry, I won't live in an isolated box with a completely controlled environment. Like all other humans, I have done things and I will do things.
