When I take some herbs for my aches and pains or other ailments, I take them straight up, in as pure a form as available. I believe that these herbs work better in as intact a state as can be obtained. I really really hate going to conventional doctors. The only one of that ilk that I have been able to respect in years was the one in the emergency room a few years ago that had the wit to order the CT scan that confirmed appendicitis and then the surgeon that got rid of that pesky malfunctioning retro organ. The rest I have seen have not done doodly squat, really. What has happened to Cure sometimes, Alleviate often and Comfort always? So, I take care of myself as best I can. As I have mentioned, I eat kratom to help alleviate my pain. It does help, but for me there is a fine line between feeling better and barfing like mad. I have never eaten enough kratom to reach the barf stage, but I do believe it is possible. Lately, I have added some really nice turmeric powder to my daily regimen of pain mitigation. I love turmeric! I have no problem straight up eating it, so I do. My thing to do now is to eat 1/2 tsp of good Bali kratom, swallowed and chewed with some water, then chase that with a half teaspoon of this delicious turmeric powder followed by a teaspoon of some really tasty organic coconut oil. I eat this around 3 times a day, sometimes followed by a chew of fresh ginger root. I'm hoping the turmeric might synergise with the kratom and mitigate the inflammation behind the pain. I also eat a half teaspoon of turmeric by its self. I can eat more turmeric than I can kratom without ill effects. Its too soon to say if this is actually working. I can say that finally, today my feet felt better than they have in a couple of months. I got up this morning and the take off was more of a walk than a hobble, and they do seem a bit less swollen. They felt so much better that I put them to work cleaning the tub since bending my back to do the job is not possible, and my wrists and hands have been misbehaving from too much use of the grabber.
