Goodbye Microsoft..and Good Riddance!

I have been using PCs with Microsoft Windows operating systems since I first touched a computer and Microsoft has not pleasantly evolved. Windows 10 pissed me off severely several nights ago. I read reviews and evidently, I read the sponsored ones or, my little old Toshiba just wasn't meant for that nasty new upgrade! I suffered Windows 8, became accustomed to it, and now I actually don't mind it a bit. Windows 8.1 crashed my junk, but luckily I had a back up and repair saved to a flash drive, so I got my machine revived. Windows 8.1 crashed my daughter's little H.P. too. We learned to simply not allow any updates whatsoever in Windows 8 and our machines purred along nicely. The woes of Windows 8.1 made me update and upgrade shy, but as time went on, I got bold. I was comforted by the assurance that I could easily jettison Windows 10 if I despised it, and that it has been available for some time now. I figured all the bugs would have been solved after what-a year or so? I was rather annoyed by the idea of updates I couldn't pick and choose from, and the insistance of no PC privacy. For some reason, Google's techniques don't highly offend me. After I upgraded to Windows 10, I changed all of the settings that I could to at least limit some of Microsoft's upskirt spying tactics, tested my applications to make sure the ones I used the most were still serviceable, and they were at that time, so I went to sleep. The next day was a total nightmare! I turned my little machine on and it froze on the first click of my beloved Google browser! I spent 6 hours getting more and more pissed, repeatedly turning my machine off and on, attempting to use my old flash drive that had been salvation once before-to no avail. I was seriously considering removing the hard drive and buying another as I surfed for bargains with my cheap and wonderful little Android powered fone. I prayed to all deities of light and of darkness. I was SO MAD that I didn't care what type of entity might have answered, and finally, by seemingly random chance, I was able to get to the holy jettison the Windows 10 choice. And I certainly DID!! (It was like questing for the Grail) This experience has led me to jettison any association with Microsoft. I am looking into affordable alternate operating systems. I'm drooling to try some Linux systems, and I'm going to start using a tablet/smart phone for my business stuff. I have used Apache Open Office for years and I love it, so I sure don't have to be dependant on Microsoft for my spreadsheets, etc. I was delighted to find an Android app version of Open Office too! Oh Android, how do I love thee? let me count the ways..SlitherIO comes to mind immediately. My grand daughter really enjoys driving her worms around and making me get another baby worm going after she kills them off.

12/22/16-It is only right that I should do an update! I am still not crazy about Windows 10, but I have discovered that it works well on systems that have more than 4GB RAM. My poor old Toshiba definitely can't handle it, but my daughter got a new HP that has 6 GB RAM and 1 TB hard storage and Windows 10 works beautifully on her machine so far, knock on wood! And yeah, I'm still using my old Toshiba as my primary internet device. As for spying..eh, there can be no secrets in this modern electronic age! If you don't want it discovered, keep it in the confines of your own mind is how I see it.
