Milk thistle was a key ingredient in that first herbal detox tea that I tried out of sheer desperation. I had nothing to lose at the time. Allegedly this beauty can protect and restore the liver, along with other benefits for the body. Based on my own experience, I believe milk thistle to be very beneficial, and eat a half teaspoon of raw seeds almost every day. It certainly isn't hurting me. The detox tea had such a positive impact on my health that it led me to research the ingredients, and being thrifty, grow my own. Not only do I continue to study herbs and other plants for their beneficial qualities, I study the things which I take into my body for fuel and nutrition, since I also developed a problem with unexplained weight gain last year. This problem has abated since I quit eating grain and grain products, as well as sugars, and high starch foods. The salad is sprinkled with petals of Sweet William, because I like them. The last beauty is my lemon balm. I have grown this wonderful lemon smelling plant for years and not realized her full potential until this past year. She is the best healer for canker and cold sores that I have found yet, and I keep a salve made from her on hand for anyone that suffers these troubles. She is also great for helping a person relax and fall asleep, and for fighting the onset of sinus infections. I am trying her in a soap to see how she benefits the skin(so far, so good!) and in an infused oil, to see how well she repels bugs. She also helps alleviate the itching from bug bites. Too much of her in extract form can upset the stomach though, especially if the stomach is empty.
An account of my personal experiences and opinions. A narrow mind is a terrible thing.

Two of my favorite herbs, and the breakfast of health
