Oh boy! I actually did get a referral to a bona fide spine specialist! Will it make a difference? I don't know. I did not get the referral to the specialist I was hoping for. This is yet another doctor out of my sitting to travel range. I am so thankful that my daughter is driving for me so I can recline! The first thing out of my mouth when I went for the physical was-"How about that referral to the orthopedic spine specialist?" After oddly sideways communications in which I just bluntly asked "Is there a set number of times I must appear and whine about this problem before I do get sent to a spine issue master?" the specialist not of my preference called to set up an appointment. Oh hoorah, and this one has Neurosurgical in the title! How prestigious that reads! I got a call from the we don't treat back pain doctor's office about my allegedly high cholesterol too. I could not care less! I will keep my cell building cholesterol, thank you very much, and I shall celebrate with a delicious egg loaded crustless quiche every single day. Unsurprisingly, my BUN/creatinine ratio was high too. I knew I was dehydrated due to a bit of kratom consumption and lack of adequate liquid intake the day before. I did things last week that sent my pain level up to needing serious relief. I was totally down for the count by Saturday. Too much extra sitting. So, why am I so flippant about the LDL cholesterol? Well, truly I could care less if I croak of a nice sudden heart attack after my last daughter is raised to adulthood. I consider that a lucky way to go rather than some horrid lingering illness or living in perpetual disabling pain. Besides, I just can't buy into the cholesterol/heart disease spin. I know cholesterol is important cell building material, LDLs carry cholesterol to the cells of the body, and the HDL carries cholesterol back to the liver. So, I suspect that my body must be in a state of cellular production if my LDL levels are a bit high. Also, there is more than one type of LDL molecule and each molecule may have a slightly different function. The tests we get don't differentiate between those molecules, so aren't they just too broad and general to be significant? It is really up to my liver regarding cholesterol, and I love my liver as wisely as I see fit. I never poison it with alcohol or drugs (mostly I mean the so called safe pharmaceuticals) and I give it milk thistle fairly regularly. Here is a sweet little cached page about cells and cholesterol: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://www.cholesterol-and-health.com/Cholesterol-Cell-Membrane.html
Alas, I haven't lost a single pound, but I feel better since I ditched the sugars and the breads, grains and starches. Now, if I can just get this sitting and forward bending difficulty fixed..
